Why Choose 3-Tesla Imaging at MRI?

STRENGTH…

Willamette Valley Imaging (WVI) offers 3T MRI in Lane County. T stands for Tesla, which is a unit of measurement of the magnetic field strength created by an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) system. Prior to the clinical 3T MRI, the standard was 1.5T MRIs. WVI’s 3T MRI creates a magnetic field twice as powerful as a 1.5T MRI, and 10 to 15 times stronger than open or lower field MRIs. Given the tremendous technological improvements achieved with 3T MRI technology, you should request 3T MRI when your doctor prescribes an MRI test.

SPEED…

Typical scan times on a 3T MRI average 30 minutes versus 60 minutes on some open MRIs. Faster scans means less chance any movement during the scan will cause image distortion or blurriness requiring you to be rescanned. With 3T MRI, you can be in and out faster.

CLARITY…

Compared to lower strength MRIs, a 3T MRI provides superior images with finer anatomic detail and clarity, making it especially beneficial for analyzing conditions of the brain, spine, musculoskeletal and vascular systems. These amazingly detailed images give WVI doctors more information and greater confidence in diagnosing your condition, resulting in earlier disease detection and a better informed treatment plan with a higher potential for success. With quality information provided by 3T MRI, WVI can help you get the medical treatment you need.

In addition, the 3T MRI is superior to 1.5T and open MRIs because:

COMFORT…

WVI’s 3T is up to 90% quieter than other MRIs. Faster speed at 3T makes for quicker, more comfortable scans.

COST…

Health insurance companies do not direct their customers to high quality MRI centers (or to board-certified radiologists like WVI’s), but they pay the same amount for an exam done on WVI’s new 3T MRI as they do for an exam done on a 10 year old low-strength open MRI. When you or your family need to have an MRI, you should choose the best imaging available, especially when the cost is the same. Get more for your money at Willamette Valley Imaging!
